On the 17th of October 2020, African Cleanup Initiative in partnership with Together for Needs Initiative went to Oworonshoki for the first outreach of Bottles for Pad and Bottles for Diaper project. The first Outreach is centered on sensitizing the community member on the project.

The meeting started at about 9am with opening prayer from the team lead of Together for needs and brief Introduction of their team and some of the African Cleanup Initiative team members. She then gave a brief speech on the reason for the outreach.

 

 

 

At about 9:40am, Lawal Imisioluwa Deborah the Program Officer of African Cleanup Initiative introduced the project properly and the need for the project and together with Mrs. Blessing Onyelekwe the Communications manager of African Cleanup Initiative explained the project and told members of the community the various kind of Menstrual materials available and how to use them especially the menstrual cup that seemed strange to many people in the environment.

 

The Project Manager of African Cleanup Initiative Mr. Munnir Adams gave the breakdown on how the project will work and the number of kg that each menstrual material and diaper would be and the cost for each.

 

 

 

The team lead of Together for needs Initiative led the question and answer series which involved residents asking questions to aid their understanding of the project.

 

 

One of the participant Mrs. Sunday gave a testimonial concerning the use of menstrual cup and encouraged people to try it and she also appreciated the organizations that came together to do this for her community.

 

 

 

Mrs. Adekoya expressed her Joy at the kind of impact this project would have on members of the community. She praised and prayed for the organizations involved in the project.

 

 

 

Mr. Alexander Akhigbe the CEO of African Cleanup Initiative gave the vote of thanks and thanked everyone for their great reception.

Total recovered recyclables was 350kg.
